Covenant Hills offers two distinct, yet overlapping programs—Christian and Traditional. Our Christian program offers a Christ-centered, biblical approach to recovery. Our Traditional program presents recovery based on God, as the individual may understand Him.
God and the 12 Steps
Individuals addicted to alcohol or drugs experience a life that is thrown off balance by addiction. Their families are torn apart. Their bodies grow sick. They often find themselves unable to perform at work or school. Social contacts may dwindle to only those who will abuse alcohol or drugs with them. These individuals experience unique challenges as they battle magnified burdens of loneliness, negativity and self-hatred.
But even more common and pervasive than any of these is that the addict becomes alienated from God. The founders of Alcoholics Anonymous recognized this fact and built the 12-Step program around Biblical truth. In the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous we learn that our physical, emotional, relational and spiritual failings can only be turned around through a “spiritual awakening.”
We believe that a strong spiritual foundation is essential to an effective recovery program for each client. Clients may choose either our Christian or Traditional 12-Step program, whichever is most comfortable for them, and may change programs at any time during treatment. Groups that address the medical or physical basis of addiction are blended, while groups dealing with life skills, spiritual issues and psychotherapy are separated based on program choice.
Traditional Program
Though we believe addiction is a spiritual battle, we understand that each person must find their own way to healing. The Covenant Hills team makes space for the journey of each individual looking for help. Our 12-Step program allows you to explore your recovery and find deeper meaning without pushing you where you are not ready to go.
Treatment must be comprehensive and aggressive. We know that left untreated, most die. Our seasoned professional staff brings to our unique program the best of psychiatric, psychological, medical, behavioral training and experience in order to address substance abuse and the wreckage it brings to those suffering. Our goal is to actively stand alongside the walking wounded in the healing process, encouraging hope and renewal to their body, mind, soul, spirit and relationships.

“All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way….” (II Timothy 3:16-17)
